6 Reasons To Start Swim Lessons
Are you debating between swim lessons and another activity? Or trying to decide if swim lessons are worth the investment? Or maybe you don’t think this is the right time? You may want them to be water safe, have survival skills, be ready for summer and get some exercise, but here are six more reasons that have nothing to do with swimming!
1. Listening to new adults
Children learn early to listen to their parents, but sometimes it can be hard to teach a child to respect a new adult. At our pool your student will learn to pay attention and listen to an instructor. They’ll quickly realize that when they turn on their listening ears, they get rewarded with a faster class pace (which means more turns in the water!) and play time.
2. Making friends
We have group lessons – most levels max out at four enrollments – so your student will have the opportunity to make new friends. They will bond by celebrating each other’s achievements and help one another overcome hesitations and fears.
3. Trying new things
No matter how old, it is good for children to learn new things. Trying something new is great for the developing brain and exposes youngsters to new fight or flight situations. But don’t worry, we’ll teach them to fight for water survival!
4. Class setting
Our group lessons will teach your child how to behave in a class setting. They have to be respectful of their classmates and listen to their instructor and deck ambassadors. If they haven’t started school yet this will give them a leg-up on the first day of kindergarten!
5. Independence from parents
Learning to separate from Mom and Dad can be difficult. Students in Seahorse or the over-three program will learn to behave and be confident without a parent by their side. They will learn to trust other adults, sit still and pay attention independently.
We can’t forget fun! After a long day of school or running errands with Mom or Dad your little tyke needs some fun. Our instructors bring their A-game to every lesson so your student has a memorable time at our pool. Plus, you’ll have a ball watching them succeed in learning new skills, making new friends and becoming an independent, confident child.
